Jeunesse review – what you need to know

Jeunesse is an international multilevel marketing company that specializes in skin care products that fight aging.

They sell a range of other aging-focused health and well-being products too, but their brand is known primarily for its anti-aging attitude.

Did I get on board? This explains everything:

Remember, we schedule 30 minutes for each call, so only schedule if you’re serious:

The company was founded in 2009.  Though it’s best-known for its Instantly Ageless skin rejuvenation formula, Jeunesse has built up its reputation as a brand focused almost wholly on fighting aging in all areas of life, not just skin wrinkles.

The company also sells supplements for mental acuity, physical energy, and long term health.

When it comes to popularity, Jeunesse is a fairly steady bet.  Searches for the company are mostly stable, though they are down a bit from Jeunesse’s heyday of popularity in 2015.

Still, it’s important to keep in mind that search traffic isn’t going to be the best metric for popularity for a product whose target demographic is in the 40+ or 50+ crowd.

Their technological usage (or lack thereof) isn’t going to give you an accurate picture of the brand’s popularity.

Products

The product at the heart of Jeunesse’s fame is their Instantly Ageless treatment, which claims to reduce wrinkles and improve appearance in minutes.

It would seem that no biological processes could be affected this quickly by a supplement, but Jeunesse claims that Instantly Ageless actually causes a change in the muscle recruitment patterns in your face.

The key ingredient is a peptide called argireline.  It’s actually related to the chemicals used in botox injections, so it is claimed to have a similar local muscle paralyzing effect.

A 2002 scientific paper published by researchers in Spain demonstrated that argireline had substantially similar effects as botulinum toxin when it comes to reducing wrinkle appearance, as measured by a decrease in wrinkle depth.

While it should be noted that this study was quite small in scale (ten women participated), it is also worth pointing out that most other anti-aging products on the market don’t have any scientific backing whatsoever.

The fact that Jeunesse’s Instantly Ageless treatment has a biologically plausible mechanism, in addition to an actual scientific study supporting its use, goes a long ways towards convincing customers of its usefulness.

As a treatment that affects the activity of muscles underneath the surface of the skin, Instantly Ageless is bound to have some side effects.

These would include the vague laxness in facial muscles that’s characteristic of botox treatments, but of course not to nearly the extent as an actual botox injection.  It’s tough to call this a true side effect, though: a partial paralysis of the facial muscles is the whole point of the treatment.

Jeunesse’s other product lines range from cosmetics to supplement preparations.  Another top seller is the Luminesce package, a combination of products which prominently feature a proprietary chemical called ATP-200, which is derived from stem cell growth factors.

Though this product lacks a legitimate scientific experiment demonstrating its anti aging utility in the real world, the biological mechanism, again, is at least plausible.

Stem cells are known to regenerate body tissue that otherwise can’t remodel itself (hence why stem cells make so many headlines as a potential treatment for intractable illnesses).

In this case, the ATP-200 is derived from adult stem cells, which exist in everyone’s body.

On the nutritional side, Jeunesse continues to follow the science with Reserve, an antioxidant supplement derived from a combination of powerful “superfoods” like grapes, cherries, and blueberries.

Reserve gets its name from a fourth ingredient, the compound resveratrol, which is naturally found in red wine.

As you may know, regular moderate consumption of red wine is associated with a lower risk of heart disease and other chronic illnesses, so naturally scientific researchers are interested in why.

Resveratrol is a strong candidate for explaining the mechanism.  As a potent antioxidant, resveratrol protects cholesterol from being oxidized, which is what causes arteries to become hardened.

A 1995 scientific study by researchers in California demonstrated that resveratrol protects cholesterol molecules from being oxidized, again providing a biologically plausible link between the product claims made by Jeunesse and the effects of the ingredients inside your body.

Compensation plan

The startup kit, which you must purchase to join Jeunesse as a distributor, costs $29.95.  At this point, you get access to retail discounts ranging from 20-45% (which ranges from mediocre to good as far as MLM wholesale discounts go).

But in order to earn commissions and to qualify for bonuses, you must be “qualified” which means moving 100 product volume per month.  Any less than that and you can’t get paid.

In addition to that, to start earning commissions you need to recruit at least two distributors underneath you, and each of them (at least two) must maintain 100 product volume in sales.

At this point, you can start earning commissions to the tune of a flat $35 bonus for sales meeting certain qualifications.

These secondary requirements make it tough to earn money beyond retail discounts as a Jeunesse distributor.

Recap

The products offered by Jeunesse actually look pretty solid, which is rare for anti-aging focused MLMs.  However, the fact that their products are backed by science allows them to get away with a pretty discouraging compensation plan.

Moving up the ladder in Jeunesse is hard because you’ve got to move a lot of product, while ensuring that your downline distributors are still meeting their minimum product volume requirements for the month.  You’ll need a pretty solid team of distributors to be able to work the system and get paid.

Basically, if you’re set on MLM, it’s not terrible, but probably not the best, either.

If you’re doing it for the money, there are better ways to kill your day job. You might like our coaching because it shows you the good life without peddling overpriced juice to your family and friends.
